PURPOSE:To repeatedly generate a basic pattern while maintaining continuity in exact coincidence with the dimension and the form of the basic pattern by processing a free curved surface consisting of plural parts of three dimensional curved surfaces as one surface unified by horizontal and vertical surfaces passing through a prescribed point. CONSTITUTION:An arbitrary point P is designated on a free curved surface S, a horizon tal plane SH and a vertical plane SV passing through the point P are set up on the free curved surface S. Intersection lines LHm and LVn between the free curved surface and the horizontal plane SH and between the free curved surface and the vertical plane SV are respectively determined, and a length lH between the point P and an arbitrarily determined reference position PH and a length lV between the point P and an arbitrarily determined reference position PV are respectively calculated. Next, a coordinate point on a texture TE corresponding to the point P on the free curved surface S is calculated from residuals RH and RV obtained respectively from the divisions of the lengths lH and lV by TH and TV, the lengths of both sides of the texture TE, and the color information at the coordinate point is taken out to color the point P based on the color information. Thus, the basic pattern is formed repeated ly keeping continuity in exact coincidence with the dimension and the form of the basic pattern. |
