PURPOSE:To preponderantly control incident light quantities on an included area by discriminating that in which area of a screen a principal object exists by measuring distances about plural areas on the image pickup surface of an image pickup means with range finding means. CONSTITUTION:Range finding means 11a, 11b, and 11c detect distances to an object about each of plural areas on an image pickup surface. An area discriminating means 10a discriminates the area for taking the image of a principal object on the basis of the distance data obtained by the means 11a, 11b, and 11c at every area. The rays of light made incident to lens sections 1 and 3 are detected by means of an incident light quantity detecting means C at every area on the image pickup screen and given to an incident light quantity controlling means B. Upon receiving the incident light quantity detecting data, the means B preponderantly controls the incident light quantity on the area set by a screen dividing means 10. Even when the principal object exists at the end section of, the screen or when the object moves on the screen from one end to the other end, a diaphragm 4 is preponderantly and automatically adjusted in accordance with the area to which the object has moved. |
