PURPOSE:To generate a rich musical sound by including many harmonics of odd order and even order without generating any DC component. CONSTITUTION:A musical sound signal which is inputted is outputted as it is until the input signal reaches a clip level held in a 1st holding means 1 and after the clip level is reached, the clip level held in the holding means 21 is varied at a specific rate with time according to a variation quantity held in a 2nd holding means 22 and also compared with the input musical sound signal, thereby outputting the varying clip level while the musical sound signal is larger than the clip level. Consequently, the input musical sound signal is clipped with the clip level which varies with time at the specific rate, so a musical sound signal which contains many higher harmonics of odd order and even order is obtained and both plus and minus components of the musical sound signal are clipped, so no DC component is generated in the musical sound signal. |
