Roof for busy road - protects residents from traffic noise and is supported on arches which can resist damage due to subsidence
摘要
Main roads which pass through densely populated areas are roofed over to protect the residents from traffic noise. In regions where subsidence due to mining is likely to occur, the roof is supported by arches (2) made of corrugated steel. The end thrust of the arches is taken by longitudinal members. The arches are reinforced by means of curved tubes (3) which fit in the troughs of the corrugations on the underside of the arches. The corrugated panels which form the arches are made from steel castings or by hot pressing of steel sheet. USE/ADVANTAGE - Roofs built over roads for protection against traffic noise and are designed to resist damage due to subsidence.
