Adaptive tolerance equalising mechanical connection - providing precise axial guidance of one or more bodies

Device for adaptive tolerance equalisation is in the form of a mechanical connection between two bodies, at least one of which must be guided axially with narrow tolerance. The device transmits axial forces or movements with minimal play and low flexure, but is flexible w.r.t. axial and being forces so that non-axial positioning of the two bodies (1,2) does not affect axial motion. The device includes a tension spring (3) made of e.g. metal, kevlar, carbon fibre, plastics or fibre-reinforced plastics. USE/ADVANTAGE - For piezoelectric actuated valves. Operates reliably, is inexpensive to mfr. and has a simple construction. (11pp Dwg.No.1/11)
