Each suction and mixt. chamber (15) has at least one inlet slot, the axial heights of which in the cylinder wall and the flow direction are different. The engine piston has a union which forms a fresh air chamber with the widened cylinder. It (4) also has a cylindrical edge (8) with cover surfaces running parallel to the cylinder surface. The cylindrical edge (8) of the piston (4) completely or partly enters a ring chamber (7), and has at least one aperture (13) to an outlet slot (17). The suction chambers (15) are provided as components sepd. from the cylinder block (1). USE - As a two-stroke IC engine, working in accordance with the Otto and/or Diesel principle.
