PURPOSE:To reduce the burden of an installation and running cost by incinerating the rolling mill lubricant sticking to steel materials in an oxidation chamber under oxidizing atmosphere then maintaining the materials at a high temp. in a heating and soaking chamber under a reducing atmosphere then cooling the materials and transferring the same again into said oxidation chamber. CONSTITUTION:Steel materials 6 extracted from a rolling mill are moved to the front of an oxidation chamber 8 by a table 3 moving in an arrow direction and are charged into the chamber 8. The materials 6 are immediately heated by burner flames in said chamber and are heated by the circulated oxidizing atmosphere, by which the rolling mill lubricant sticking to the surface of the materials 6 is incinerated in short time. The materials 6 are then moved to the front of a heating and soaking chamber 20A (or 20B) and are transferred into the chamber 20A. The materials 6 in said chamber are heated to a high temp. by the radiant tubes on the ceiling and floor and are maintained at said temp. Air is conducted into said radiant tubes to decrease gradually the temp. in the chamber 20A, thereby cooling the materials 6 down to the prescribed temp. The materials 6 are again transferred into the chamber 8 where the materials are held or slowly cooled in the oxidizing atmosphere, by which the carbide in the scale formed in the chamber 20A is reoxidized and descaling property is improved. |
