PURPOSE:To relax the strain of crystal lattice of an oxygen-deficient superconducting ceramic material and improve the superconducting properties by adding hydrogen to the superconducting material and heat-treating in an oxygen atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:Hydrogen is added to an oxygen-deficient superconducting ceramic material expressed e.g. by formula YBa2Cu3O7-x. The addition of hydrogen can be carried out e.g. by heating the above material in hydrogen atmosphere, irradiating the material with hydrogen shower or implanting hydrogen ion into the material. The position of oxygen in the material is corrected by the hydrogen addition. The hydrogenated material is heat-treated in an oxygen atmosphere to effect the addition of oxygen. The oxygen deficiency newly developed in the above hydrogen-addition process can be corrected and the addition amount of hydrogen is optimized by this process. The strain of the crystal lattice of the above superconducting ceramic material caused by the oxygen deficiency can be relaxed and the superconducting properties can be improved. |
