The present invention relates to a class of new IgG1 monoclonal antibodies, directed to an epitope on human urokinase, which selectively bind to high molecular weight urokinase (54,000), or a single-chain precursor thereof, without binding to low molecular weight urokinase (33,000) have an affinity constant for urokinase which is suitable for use in an immunoadsorption-based purification system and does not impair the enzymatic activity of urokinase.
