<p>PURPOSE:To enable the stable tracking control even under the state of inferior quality of a written signal by deciding a synchronizing signal detected only when the synchronizing signal has been detected after a lapse of a fixed time since a pilot signal was detected as a normal synchronizing signal and executing the tracking control according to the normal synchronizing signal. CONSTITUTION:A deciding signal is outputted for a fixed time, provided the pilot signal is detected by a pilot signal detecting means 24, and the tracking control is performed by outputting a sample-and-hold signal to a tracking error detecting means only when a detecting signal is outputted from a synchronizing signal detecting means 22 during a generating period of this deciding signal. Consequently, when the synchronizing signal is detected in spite of nondetection of the pilot signal, erroneous detection of the synchronizing signal can be prevented by invalidating the detection of this synchronizing signal. By this method, even when the quality of a signal recorded on a magnetic tape 1 is inferior, the stable tracking can be performed.</p> |
