MULTIPLE STAGE GEAR CHANGE BOX

A gear change box has a fine stage entrance group (7) arranged upstream of the main group for finely adjusting the speed of rotation within a working range. A forced oil-cooled, drag torque reducing multi-plate starting clutch (26) arranged between the entrance group (7) and the main group (8) allows the speeds in both groups to be easily engaged even when synchronizing positive locking clutches (18, 20) are used in the entrance group. A reversing shaft (13) for reverse gear is completely integrated in the entrance group (7) and its separating clutches (F/G) can be engaged by the same gear selector (83, 112) as the other split gears of the entrance group (7). An auxiliary clutch (36) for an intermediate gear box (9) is possibly arranged on the primary shaft (32) of the starting clutch (26), drivingly and constructionally immediately upstream of the starting clutch (26).
