PURPOSE:To enable smooth driving of a vehicle by a method wherein, when the vehicle approaches an intersection, a driver is informed of the approach and urged to watch a monitor screen of a display means and a mark of the direction to be taken by the vehicle at the intersection is displayed on the monitor screen. CONSTITUTION:In a map selecting element 4, map information stored in a map information storage element 2 is accessed and the information is changed over to that of a reduced scale set in a map scale reduction setting switch 11 through a map scale reduction setting element 5. Besides, an output signal of a destination setting switch 12 is inputted to a running route setting element 6 and an optimum running route for a destination is set on the basis of information from a current position recognition element 3. The respective outputs of the selecting element 4 and the setting element 6 are inputted to an image conversion element 7 and each data are converted into an image. In an operation determining element 8, it is determined from the optimum running route set by the setting element 6 that a vehicle approaches an intersection, display of winker marks WL and WR on CRT 9 and an operation of a buzzer 13 are decided and the marks WL and WR are displayed on a monitor screen 10 of the CRT 9 through the conversion element 7, while the buzzer 13 is made to sound. |
