The apparatus for measuring and controlling the eccentricity of the coloured coating layer of optical fibres (OF) allows continuous on-line measurement of the eccentricity of the coloured layer and high-speed control of the devices envisaged for its deposition in order to make possible corrections. The measurement is carried out by launching onto the fibre (OF) monochromatic light beams with a wavelength belonging to the near infrared and by analyzing the interference patterns obtained by TV cameras (CA1, CA2) sensitive to such wavelengths. <IMAGE>
