PURPOSE:To enable an operator to move and exchange a process cartridge which has run out of its life with a simple operation and to improve the ease of maintenance by providing a counting means and a control means which controls a process cartridge moving means when the number of image formation times attains a prescribed number of times. CONSTITUTION:A means which detects the service life of the process cartridge 15 is a counting means to count the number of image formation times and detects the service life of the process cartridge 15. Namely, the number of image formation times is counted by the counting means when image formation is made. This number is integrated to the count number i a count memory. The control section outputs a service life when the integrated count number attains the prescribed number or above. The control section, thereafter, outputs the movement signal of the process cartridge 15 to the process cartridge moving means to move the process cartridge 15 toward a 2nd position. the operator is able to exchange the process cartridge with the simple operation in this way and the ease of maintenance is improved. |
