METHOD FOR GENERATING ARBITRARY CURVED LINE

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need of successively designating connecting conditions at connecting points and automatically assure the continuity of linear differentials at the connecting points by deciding two curve points on a dummy tangential line and generating a cubic Bezier curve from sample point information whenever a curve is generated in a section. CONSTITUTION:Coordinate values of two control points Qi1 and Qi2 are found in addition to the coordinated values of sample points Pi and Pi+1 which are respectively used as the starting and ending points of a section and the curve representing the section between each two sample points is expressed by means of one cubic Bezier curve in accordance with the information on the given plural sample points. Therefore, a curve can be defined by using a position coordinate only and continuity can be secured at connecting points. In addition, control points can be set on the curve and the curve can be expressed by a polynomial of up to cubic one.
