<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the flawing of rolling rolls and to improve a yield, equipment maintenance property and working rate by narrowing the opening degree of side guides to a slight gap in accordance with the signal generated when the tail end of a material to be rolled passes a vertical rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:The signal is transmitted at the point of the time when the tail end of the material S to be rolled passes the vertical rolling mill by an HMD (hot steel product detector) 31 installed on the inlet side of the vertical rolling mill 1 and a PG (pulse transmitter) 32, etc., mounted to a vertical roll shaft. The side guides 21 which are constituted integrally of the vertical rolling mill and are extended near to the inlet side of the work rolls of a finishing mill F are in contact with the side end faces of the material to be rolled or the opening degree thereof is narrowed to the narrow gap in accordance with this signal. The correct guiding of the material to be rolled to the finishing mill is available in such a manner even after the passage of the tail end of the material to be rolled through the vertical rolling mill. The generation of the draw-in is drastically decreased and the yield and operating rate are improved.</p> |
