PURPOSE:To make it unnecessary to provide an ATM transmission system with a priority transmission function and to correct the error of a host hierarchical code signal by combining a hierarchical coding technique and burst error correcting technique at the time of executing the ATM transmission of a video signal. CONSTITUTION:A master hierarchical coding signal and a slave hierarchical coding signal outputted from a hierarchical coding circuit 2 are respectively constituted as cells in each picture element block by cell forming circuits 301, 302. Then, a master hierarchical cell coding signal (master hierarchical cell) is converted into an errorcorrected code in each cell and interleaving processing is executed in each M- picture element block. Then the output of the circuit 302 is delayed by the same delay time as that necessary for the error correcting and interleaving processing of the master hierarchy by a fixed delay circuit 305. In the case of executing the coding packet transmission (ATM transmission) of a code in a video signal, it is unnecessary to provide the ATM transmission system with a priority transmission function at the time of cancelling a cell and the error correction of a master hierarchical coding signal at least can be completedly executed. |
