PURPOSE:To obtain the subject foamed resin article having high expansion ratio and fine cell structure and useful as a fire-proofing building material, etc., by using a small amount of chlorinated or fluorinated hydrocarbon and ketone, etc., as foaming assistants. CONSTITUTION:The objective foamed resin article is produced by adding a thermal curing agent and an organic or inorganic foaming agent to a resol-type liquid phenolic resin or its modified resin. In the above process, 0.1-5 pts.wt. of a chlorinated or fluorinated hydrocarbon and a hydrophilic organic solvent such as ketone, lower alcohol and ether are added as foaming assistants to 100 pts.wt. of the phenolic resin. The foaming agent and the foaming assistants are added preferably in the form of suspension, slurry or solution. |
