Inexpensive viewing binoculars, characterised by a novel system of arranging the constituent parts which make the binoculars lightweight and effective. The invention relates to a binocular system which is obtained by folding a pliant material to which is attached plastic lenses by means of a lens support of novel design. The binoculars consist of a main body (40) which are 8 truncated conical pieces of +/-7 cm by 2 cm, these being folded up on themselves in groups of 4, (30-31-32-33) and (34-35-36-37), and which are fixed by a male-and-female attachment system (1-2/5-6). This body is surrounded by an outer band itself fixed by a male/female system (9-10) and, in addition, by four judiciously placed notches (13-14-15-16). A U made of rigid material receives, by virtue of two transverse slots (22 and 23), the lenses (24 and 25) which end up sliding inside. The magnification is between 4 and 6 times. The device according to the invention is particularly lightweight and easily transportable, and it allows very considerable magnification given its small size and its novel structure. <IMAGE>
