METHOD FOR CORRECTING ERROR OF PICTURE

PURPOSE:To make visually excellent error correction by comparing the DC component of the current block with the DC component of a reference block and performing the error correction with the frame having the smaller cumulative sum of functions of inter-frame differences. CONSTITUTION:Orthogonally transformed picture signals are rearranged in the order of frequency in both horizontal and vertical directions so that low-frequency components come to lower left side. The components on upper left side are usually called DC components, with the other components being called AC components. After it is discriminated that which block gives the smallest picture quality deterioration after correction by replacement, the block where an error occurs is replaced with the block of a frame (field) which is considered to be smaller in picture quality deterioration. Therefore, remarkable picture quality deterioration by replacement can be prevented even in pictures which are discontinuous in time due to a scene change, etc.
