PURPOSE:To obtain the subject nontoxic material, containing zein, an aqueous solution of ethanol and a low-melting higher fatty acid in a specific proportion, excellent in transparency, softness and adhesion, having edibility and biodegradability and useful as a food coating agent. CONSTITUTION:The objective material containing 10pts.wt. zein, 20-500pts.wt. aqueous solution at 60-90vol./vol.% concentration and 1-30pts.wt. >=12C fatty acid (e.g. oleic acid, myristic acid or lauric acid) having <=65 deg.C melting point and preferably 0.5-20pts.wt. plasticizer (e.g. glycerol or propylene glycol). |
