The multi pole electrical connector has a number of wires (40) with crimped connectors (24-26) that are inserted into bushes within a block (12) that can slide sideways by a set amount within a main housing. By being moved sideways the crimped connectors are forced firmly against projections (28) on the housing and this provides secure retention. - Movement of the block is provided by pressing a plunger (30) into the main body (11). An angled slot (50) engages an angled projection on the sliding block. This results in sideways displacement.
