PURPOSE:To perform surely capping and suction recovery by vibrating a recording head means by a driving means after covering action of a cap and actuating a suction means after a specified period. CONSTITUTION:After a carrier 2 is moved to a home position and a cap 22 is brought into contact with a recording head 1, the cap is vibrated. Thereby, the cap 22 covers surely an outlet forming face of the recording head 1. Then, watch-and-wait is performed for a specified time. The reason thereof is that a the cap 22 formed of an elastic material such as rubber is temporarily deformed by a load generated by movement of the carrier 2 while the cap 22 is brought into contact with the recording head 1, an enough time for recovery of this deformation, for example 0.3 sec is used for watch-and-wait. After the deformation of the cap 22 is recovered, output recovery treatment is performed by a suction means. Namely, the suction recovery is performed by procedures wherein CPU 10 drives a motor 28 of recovery system and a position of a cam apparatus 29 is controlled at a suction recovery position. |
