The automatic automobile standing brake responds to the operation of the brake pedal when the vehicle velocity is below a given value, to increase the applied brake press. and to maintain the increased brake press. The given velocity value is variable and is dependent on the retardation characteristics, such that the given velocity is increased at higher retardation rates. The given velocity value is directly dependent on the retardation rate, the brake press. increase also dependent on the latter, together with the duration for which the increased press. is maintained. Alternatively the brake press. increase and the duration for which the increased press. is maintained are dependent on the drive torque. |
