A sheet of heat-resistant elastomer has a thermally resistant surface fabric of woven or knitted material, pref. of aramid or glass. Pref. elastomers are mixed natural rubber and ethylene-propylene-diene polymer, styrene-butadiene rubber, butyl rubber, or blends thereof or rubber recovered from scrap. USE - For e.g. flooring. In an example, for the flooring of steel works, it consists of the elastomer substrate (2) and a glass cloth or knitted ware (3), these two layers being clamped together. It is important that the elastomer of the substrae (2) only penetrates the glass fabric to the limited extent (delta X) and not to its surface (4). (2pp Dwg.No.1/1)
