PURPOSE:To improve the performance and the reliability of an optical switch by an extremely simple constitution, by providing an optical branch coupler which branches incident light beams in parallel, and a shielding plate which slides perpendicularly to the optical axes of the beams which are branched by the optical branch coupler. CONSTITUTION:Light beams which have been made incident from an input port 6 are projected to a half mirror 3-1, and made to branch to light beams which passed through as it is and goes to an output port 7-1, and light beams which are reflected and outputted from an output port 7-2 by a mirror 3-2. In case it is outputted from the output port 7-1, the light beams which have passed through the half mirror 3-1 is outputted from the output port 7-1 by attracting a movable small piece by exciting a driving coil 5 of a side A, and cutting off a branch light by moving a shielding plate 4 in the direction side as indicated with an arrow A. Also, when the light beams are outputted from the output port 7-2 side, it is outputted by moving the shielding plate 4 to a position indicated with a two point chain line by exciting the driving coil 5 of a side B, and opening the output 7-2 side by cutting off the light beams which have passed through the half mirror 3-1. In this way, the optical axis is fixed to the output port 7-1 and the output port 7-2, the optical path loss quantity becomes constant, and the performance and the reliability can be improved.
