A fracture in an at least double-walled diaphragm of a diaphragm pump is detected by the rise in pressure caused by the fracture, this increase being recorded directly in and/or on the diaphragm itself. The outer membranes of the diaphragm are pref. made of a substrate material which can be bonded to a PTFE film. A laminar diaphragm has a outer PTFE film in contact with the liq., concerned and bonded to another PTFE layer and then to a Neoprene film. The composite is circular and is gripped at top and bottom (7,8); it makes oscillations from the pump action. It has a static part addn. (4) at one end, which is connected to the main body (3) and contains a response/signal member (6). ADVANTAGE - The system enables any fracture to be detected simply. (6pp Dwg.No.1/10)
