Powdered organic materials, and preferably used tyres, scrap plastics, electronic gear or mixts. of these or even biomass materials, are subjected to controlled degassing with the emphasis on obtaining/recovering raw materials and fuels. The process uses a hollow ribbon screw extruder with one or more stages arranged in succession and separated from each other by barriers; heating agents circulate through one or more circuits so as to form separate temp. zones for drying and degassing, and the products of degassing are separately drawn off from each stage; the extruder can be a single or double hollow ribbon type held in bodies sealed at the top. ADVANTAGE - The system produces large quantities of degassing products at different temp. bands up to 600 deg.C and in pure form. (1pp)
