The hydraulic braking system has an arrangement to control the braking and/or drive slip in which a switching valve (28) is inserted between the master cylinder (1) and the pump (4) such that in a first position the valve keeps the brake pipe open and in a second position blocks the brake pipe (2) in the direction of the pump. The valve is switchable from the first to the second position by the master cylinder pressure. USE/ADVANTAGE - Braking system which dispenses with an electromagnetically actuated selection valve to give greater reliability.
