PURPOSE:To curtail time and expenses for development by constructing a software system by using an application program as it is as an application program operated under a new operating system if necessary after an old application program is extended. CONSTITUTION:The extended device is provided with a processor 21 for a high speed processing, a high speed memory 22 provided with a storage area 22a for storing various programs and a work area 22b, and a communication memory 23 for storing the data which are sent/received between a processor 11 of an existing side and the high speed processor 21 of an extended side, in addition to an existing hardware 1 before the extension. In this regard, the communication memory 23 is provided with a shared RAM, and a bus arbiter which is connected by a bus to the processors of the existing side and the extension side and switches suitably the shared RAM to the existing side and the extension side. Accordingly, as for the part for realizing the same function, the same machine language can be used even if a hardware is different, and it is unnecessary to generate newly an application program related to the same function. In such a manner, the time and expenses for development are curtailed.
