The green light-emitting fluorescent substance is produced by (a) adding CuSO4 5H2O, HAuCl4 2H2O, Al(NO3) 9H2O as a coactive agent, Sc2O3, NH4Cl and S to zinc sulfide (ZnS), (b) firing the mixture in the pot furnace under the reduction atmosphere containing hydrogen sulfide or carbon disulfide at 950-1050 deg.C for 0.5-3 hr, and (c) washing and drying the fired material. The fluorescent substance contains 2 x 10-5 - 3 x 10-4 g Cu, 5 x10-5 2.5 x 10-3 g Au, 3.5 x 10-5 - 5.0 x 10-2 g Al and 0 - 2.0 x 10-4 g Sc per 1 g Zns. The substance is used in the mfr. of a high image guality brawn tube having a high luminance.
