PURPOSE:To form a recording material extremely excellent in color forming properties and the preservability of a recording image by using at least one kind of a specific salicylic acid derivative or a polyvalent metal salt thereof as a developer. CONSTITUTION:In a recording material utilizing the reaction of a colorless-light- colored basic material with a developer, at least one kind of a salicylic acid derivative represented by formula I or a polyvalent metal salt is used as the developer. In the formula, R is a group which may have a substituent selected from an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, a cycloalkyl group, a phenyl group and a naphthyl group, X is an alkylene group which may have an ether bond, Y is an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aralkyl group, an alkoxy group, a phenyl group, a naphthyl group, a phenoxy group, a nitro group or a halogen atom and m is 0 or an integer of 1-3. |
