PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition which comprises a component obtained by extracting Quercus salicina BLUME (URAJIROGASHI in Japanese) with water and/or an organic solvent and adding the extract to tooth paste or the like, thus being used in inhibition of tooth debris formation and prevention of tooth decay. CONSTITUTION:The composition contains, as an active ingredient, a glucosyl transferase inhibitor which is obtained by extracting Quercus salicina BLUME with water and/or an organic solvent. The minimal effective concentration of the inhibitor is more than 0.1wt.%, preferably 20wt.% in the total inhibitory substance. Further, the minimal concentration of the active ingredient in the composition is more than 0.001wt.%, preferably 0.01 to 10wt.%. The extract is used by addition to tooth paste, chewing gum or the like. |
