According to the invention, the snorkel essentially includes: an inner tube (50) arranged in an outer tube (20) of the snorkel (10), these two tubes being coaxial, but having markedly different cross sections, so as to form two separate channels; a central ring (40) arranged in the upper part of the outer tube (20); a plurality of air inlet orifices (42) provided on the top of the said central ring (40); a one-way retaining diaphragm (43) of flat annular shape (or inhalation diaphragm intended only to bring the outside air into the snorkel), arranged at the apex of the said inlet orifices (42); a one-way retaining diaphragm (53) of flat shape (or outlet diaphragm intended only to allow the air to leave the snorkel); an annular body (30) provided at the upper part of the snorkel and provided with a plurality of air suction holes (33) and air exit holes in proximity to the inhalation and outlet diaphragms; a water-retaining diaphragm (61), of flat and annular shape, and a float of the sleeve type, which are arranged sequentially under the orifices of the air inlet flap valve (42), at the top and on the inner periphery of the suction holes (33), the said water-retention diaphragm (61) being normally situated at the base and on the inner periphery of the said suction holes (33). <IMAGE>
