An electrical detonator comprises an open-ended cylindrical housing (1) containing a group of pyrotechnic materials in layers (4) and a socket (5) with electrical contact pins (6). The bowl-shaped housing (1) is mfd. by injection moulding of a thermoplastic material e.g. modified PPO or a fluid crystal polymer, which may contain a filler or reinforcing fibres. The base (3) of the housing (1) may be formed by the closed end wall (7) of the housing or alternatively the socket (5) end.
