Device for non-contact inspection of wire- or strip- shaped objects such as the hook of coat hangers which are moved forward as a series. This inspection makes use of three light beams at an angle to one another, in such a way that in the event of the unwanted presence of two or more objects on a single location in the series at least one of the three beams is interrupted more than once, from which an alarm signal is derived. <IMAGE>
