A cationic electrodeposition coating resin composition composed mainly of (A) a resin containing a primary hydroxyl group and a cationic group, and (B) an epoxy resin which is a copolymer comprising recurring units represented by formula (I) <IMAGE> (I) and recurring units represented by formula (II) <IMAGE> (II) wherein R denotes a C3-C35 alkyl group, the proportion of the recurring units of formula being 1 to 75% by weight.
