PURPOSE:To prepare the title compsn. excellent in craze resistance by compounding a methacrylic resin with a specific random polymer. CONSTITUTION:The title compsn. comprises 70-99.5 wt.% methacrylic resin and 0.5-30 wt.% random polymer having a structure of the formula, wherein X is H, 1-5C satd. or unsatd. alkyl, or 1-5C satd. or unsatd. alkoxy; 10<=t<=100000; 0<=m<=100000l and 0<=n<=100000. The polymer is commercially available and prepd. by polymerizing epichlorohydrin, ethylene oxide, etc., in the presence of, e.g., an organoaluminum catalyst. The addition of the polymer to the resin is effective in improving the craze resistance of the resin without degrading the mechanical strengths, optical properties, and heat distortion temp., esp. effective in improving the resistance to crazing caused by repeated wetting and drying. |
