PURPOSE:To secure safety of traveling of a vehicle by providing a failure control means for connecting a clutch when a failure of an actuator is detected. CONSTITUTION:A steering shaft 7 for mechanically connecting a steering wheel 8 and a front wheel steering mechanism 2 is vertically divided into two of a steering wheel side shaft 22 and a front wheel side shaft 21. A clutch 25 for connecting and disconnecting the steering wheel side shaft 22 and the front wheel side shaft 21 is provided between both the shafts 21, 22. Next, when a failure of an actuator 12 is detected by a detecting means, this clutch 25 is connected by a failure control means U. The steering shaft 7 divided into two is thereby unified to connect the steering wheel 8 and the front wheel steering mechanism 2 mechanically, and safety of traveling of a vehicle at the time of failure of an actuator can be secured. |
