摘要 The method is especially applicable to the sifting of mixes of non-ferrous metal scrap, and is distinguished by the use of a multi-layer fluidised bed in which the bulk density of the layers may be varied by choice of material, e.g. steel shot, glass beads, and particle diameter. The material of the bottom layer must have a bulk density at rest equal to the specific weight of the heaviest material to be separated. The bed material of lowerbulk density forms the upper layer. The bed material (49,47) is admeitted admitted to the vibratory bed (8) through offset chutes (51,52). The material mix (35,48) is fed in at the front end and as it moves along the bed the lighter constituent '35) floats to the upper layer. The segregated metal emerges from the bed past a gate (36) dividing the output into two streams. ADVANTAGE - Does not require use of air blast. Environmentally friendly. Three materials can be separated in two layer bed if required.
