PURPOSE:To achieve smoothness of an image, a high performance in following images and high visibility of an tomographic image by arranging a circuit which performs a self correlation computation corresponding to the difference in data between a received data resulted from the digitization of a reflected wave and a data of a frame of the image and a horizontal coordinates converter. CONSTITUTION:A received signal from a probe 1 is digitized to be inputted into a sound-ray direction coordinates converter 8a, an output signal of which is inputted into an input data holding circuit 15 as original data. In parallel with this. a previous data is read out of a frame memory 18 corresponding to an address at which an updated data as calculated by a correlation computation with the original data to be inputted into a previous data holding circuit 16. A self correlation computing device 17 performs a correlation computation corresponding to a difference between the original data and data from the previous data while generating an updated data to be written at a specified address of the frame memory 18. The data is read properly out of the frame memory 18 and inputted into a horizontal direction coordinates converter 10a to be shown on a display device 19 as a standard TV type signal from a converter 10a involved.
