Part of the bed surface is formed by a thigh-support hinging on the bed frame and to which a shin support is attached. The foot-section is adjustable in the lengthwise direction of the frame. A link pivoting on both is coupled to the thigh support and to a lever (14) rigidly mounted on the foot-section (7). The thigh-support can be adjustable for length, the link (13) being attached to its adjustable section, and typically via a beam (10) on the support and sliding in a rail. There can be two parallel channel-section rails open towards each other.
