Multi-core push fit connector e.g. for automobile cables

The two cables 29,30 have at least two separately insulated cores and each core on one cable is to be interconnected with one on the other. The connector has a base 16 with a cavity into which project contact blades 21,22 separated by projections of insulation 17. Corresponding contact blades are formed on a U shaped element 19. The cables are located within a profiled groove on a plug 1 that is pushed into the base and the insulation on the cable is penetrated by the blades to establish an electrical interconnection.
