The invention relates to a braking device for a skateboard, comprising braking means (1) for the rear wheels (16), means arranged under the board (5), preferably at the rear of the said wheels, means (2) for actuating the braking, and linking means (3) connecting the two abovementioned means. These means (1, 2, 3) are arranged so that braking may be effected independently of the position of the board relative to the ground, which prevents any unexpected braking, and so that braking is exerted in a uniform manner regardless of the momentary orientation of the axle (6) carrying the wheels (16). <IMAGE>
