The automobile heat exchanger comprises a fluid casing (1) with a peripheral shoulder (6) and a plate manifold (2). The manifold bottom has openings (11) for the passage of tubes (3) and is extended by a peripheral edge (12) perpendicular to the bottom. A reinforcing plate (13) of transverse dimension less than that of the manifold plate has a central part which is placed on the bottom of the manifold plate. This reinforcing plate has second openings (14) of dimensions equal to those of the first openings in the manifold plate. These openings delimit between them cross members (15) connecting two longitudinal parts (16) extending from the central part to form beams for supporting a part of a lower support face (10) of the shoulder. The beams form with the peripheral edge a groove for receiving partially the shoulder with the sealing joint (17).
