PURPOSE:To make it easy to form a polymer film on the surface of a fine magnetic particle to make it possible to maintain stable characteristics of magnetic fluid for long by adsorbing vinyl monomer having nitrogen onto the surface of the fine magnetic particle under the presence of an organic solvent, followed by polymerizing the adsorbed vinyl monomer. CONSTITUTION:Using the alkylnaphthalene deaerated in argon gas as dispersion medium, 150ml of ultrafine colloidal cobalt particle obtained by vacuum evaporation is taken in a three-neck flask, 1ml of deaerated morpholinoethyl methacrylate and 0.1g of alpha,alpha'-Azobisisobutyronitrile powder as polymerization initiator are put altogether in a glove box, and after plugged they are taken out and agitated at 70 deg.C for 3 hours. As a result, colloid where the surface of the ultrafine cobalt particle is coated with morpholinoethyl methacrylate polymer is obtained, and 3g of alkenyl succinicimide as dispersant is added thereto, followed by applying supersonic wave thereto for 3 hours, thus obtaining magnetic fluid. |
