The machine in question is designed for preparing espresso coffee or filter coffee, and is provided with a water circulating pump 6, a water heating element B which has an inlet portion connected to an outlet of the pump 6 and is shaped to form the heating base of the container which receives the filter coffee, a base 16 for supporting a filter holder for making espresso coffee, a container 17 inside which filter coffee can be produced, and adjusting means 20, 5, diversion means 15, 23, and control means 7, used, respectively, for adjusting the quantity of water, for diverting the water to different lines for use, and for controlling the stages of operation of the machine.
