<p>PURPOSE: To analyze the composition of a stratum fluid, e.g. water, gas or oil, by analyzing the stratum fluid in a bore using a boring stratum detector. CONSTITUTION: A boring stratum detector 10 analyzes and tests the composition of a fluid from a stratum 14. The detector 10 is suspended into a bore 12.from the lower end of a multiconductor cable 15 to be connected with an electric control system 18 and the body 19 thereof surrounds the part of a control system 16 in the bore 12. A fluid sampled from the stratum 14 by means of a fluid take-in assembly 20 is fed through a module 25 for analyzing fluid to fluid collection chambers 22, 23 under control of the systems 16, 18. The module 25 comprises a light source 30, a fluid sample tube 32, an optical fiber 34, a spectrograph 36, and a detector array 38 and determines the spectrum of the light source 30, the backscattering and forward scattering light from the fluid sample and the spectrum of transmitted light. The information is delivered to a ground system 18 and analyzed.</p> |
