PURPOSE:To prevent excessive image forming operation which exceeds a maintenance period by providing a means which inhibits image forming operation when the unloaded state of a nonvolatile storage means is detected. CONSTITUTION:When the power source is turned on while the nonvolatile storage element 14 is not mounted on an engine board for some reason, the mounted state of the storage element 14 is read by what is called various diagnostics for testing the reliability of the whole system. At this time, an address which is sent back from, for example, the storage element 14 does not match a sent address, so a control part 13 judges that the storage element 14 is not mounted, inhibits image forming operation, and also displays the unmounted state of the storage element 14 on a console panel. Consequently, such trouble that excessive image forming operation is performed exceeding the maintenance period is prevented. |
