FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: bisphenol is purified by two stage distillation at temperatures from 220 to 250 C and pressure from 0.1 to 50 mbar in inert gas atmosphere to separate undistilled high-boiling components in first stage and to isolate low-boiling components in second stage. Bisphenol A melt having purify of at least 90% and phenol content of less than 10% is subjected to distillation. Process involves recirculation of fractions enriched with low-boiling components, phenol and high-boiling components and having bisphenol A content of more than 92%. Bisphenol A fractions enriched with low-boiling components are withdrawn from process in maximum amount of 5%, and bisphenol A fractions enriched with high-boiling components are withdrawn in maximum amount of 10% to obtain bisphenol A with purity degree of 99,98% or higher.
